Ophthalmology Service for Veterinary Clinics
The goal of Ojo Veterinario is to provide a specialized veterinary ophthalmology service for clinics and veterinary hospitals that require expert support for cases involving eye problems in their patients.
The step-by-step service:
Initial Contact: A clinic interested in our service can get in touch with us via WhatsApp, email, or by booking an appointment from the homepage. During this first contact, we will learn about the case and assess the need for a specialized examination. If remote care is possible, it will be offered free of charge.
Clinic Consultation: If an in-person visit is necessary after an online/WhatsApp consultation, or directly via an appointment request, we travel directly to the clinic with the necessary equipment to perform a complete ophthalmological examination on the agreed date. This allows us to provide a detailed diagnosis and precise recommendations in the patient's familiar environment, reducing their stress and facilitating collaboration with the veterinary team.
Diagnosis and Recommendations: During the consultation, we explain our findings directly to the pet owner, answering questions and providing reassurance. The standard examination covers the following areas:
Schirmer Test evaluation (dry eye).
Neuro-ophthalmology.
iCare Tonovet for tonometry: Measurement of Intraocular Pressure (IOP).
Kowa SL-19 Slit Lamp: Examination of adnexa, cornea, anterior chamber, uvea, and lens.
Keeler Vantage Plus: Indirect ophthalmoscopy for examination of the posterior segment/retina.
Evaluation of corneal ulcers (classification and recommendations).
Recommendations and a Detailed Report (sent by email) with the diagnosis and recommended steps for treatment or follow-up.
Follow-up: To ensure continuity of care and the patient's well-being, we are available for subsequent consultations, collaborating with the clinic at every stage of the ophthalmological treatment.
Important: This service is designed to work in collaboration with veterinarians. If a client has shown you this page, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions — Ophthalmology in Clinic
Can I request a visit for an urgent case?
Yes. We try to prioritize urgent ophthalmic cases whenever possible. Please contact us by phone or WhatsApp to coordinate the visit.
Does the report include therapeutic recommendations?
Yes. After the evaluation, we send a detailed report by email, including the diagnosis, recommendations, and follow-up steps.
Reports are usually delivered within two business days, together with the corresponding invoice.
What does the report include?
The report is a PDF document, sent by email or WhatsApp, which can be easily added to the patient’s medical record in most veterinary management systems.
It includes the patient’s details, findings, high-definition photographs (taken with a mirrorless camera and macro lens when appropriate), the presumptive or definitive diagnosis, observations, treatment, and follow-up plan.
What is included under “Observations”?
This section details the clinical reasoning that led to the diagnosis and the justification for the therapeutic recommendations.
In addition to being useful for clinical follow-up, it serves as an excellent educational tool for deepening understanding of the ophthalmic condition.
Do you offer surgical procedures?
Yes. In many cases, surgeries can be performed directly at the clinic.
When a surgical microscope is required, the procedure is carried out in a partner clinic equipped with the necessary instrumentation.
How is payment handled?
The client pays the clinic directly, and we invoice the clinic.
This way, the clinic maintains full control over the fees charged to the client, although we can assist in establishing the final price if requested.
Can I submit cases for remote assessment (telemedicine)?
Yes. You can do so through the Ojo Veterinario online form, where you can upload images and clinical information. This service is currently free of charge.
Who speaks with the pet owner?
During the visit, we speak directly with the pet owner to explain our findings, but billing and service management are always handled through the clinic.
